about a year ago i was getting really really really tired of a little boy getting out of his bed multiple times asking for things like a drink or a hug or anything else that seemed equally important after bedtime. so i came up with the idea to make him bedtime passes. passes that he could use if he had to get out of bed after he had been tucked in. i made him two and got them laminated. if he got out of bed without a bedtime pass (in other words, more than 2 times) then he would get punished in different ways (whether it be, taking away a bedtime pass for the next night or not being able to watch tv the next day.) he learned very quickly to only get out of bed for reasons that were good enough to use up a bedtime pass for.
oh, and they always give me leverage during the day:) i'm sure i say "listen to me or i will take a bedtime pass away" more often than i should!
i will admit that as of late (more than a year after starting), it has started to become overly annoying always having to "do" bedtime passes. we have forewarned howie that after the easter bunny comes he will be old enough to only have one bedtime pass, and when he turns 5, he is old enough to go to bed without any. i am really excited to be done with them but i am so thankful they helped when i needed him to get in to bed and stay there!

What a great idea Angie for little children who have trouble staying in bed. Just fabulous! On Cam's top bunk I have tons of glow in the dark stars and they come with a little LD light that he can shine on them to re-active them if he wants. So he never gets out of bed...mind you he never was one to get out of bed anyways. But I know lots of kids who do, so what a fabulous idea!!!
I love this idea. Thanks Angie.
